Hulst, H.G. van der

Harry van der Hulst

Harry van der Hulst, born in The Hague, the Netherlands, in 1953. Ph.D. from Leiden University. Associate Professor of General Linguistics at Leiden University.

Guest of the Rector (1 September 1993 - 30 June 1994)

Although I originally had planned to spend all of my time on the work that relates to the EuroTyp project on Word Prosodic Systems, I made use of the occasion to also take one step further or finalize a number of articles and to even initialize a number of others. Thus, I worked on accentual systems (partly in the light of the EuroTyp project and partly inspired by a new theory called Optimality Theory), on aspects of sign language phonology, on various parts of my own theory of phonological representation (Radical CV theory), especially regarding syllable structure.
