During my tenure at NIAS, I have completed work on three edited volumes, work on which had started earlier. These volumes are already under contract. Postmodernism and China (co edited with Zhang Xudong)will be published by Duke University Press, while the other two volumes, Places and Politics in the Age of Global Capital (co edited with Roxann Prazniak), and, History After the Three Worlds (co edited with Vinay Bahl and Peter Gran), will be published by Rowman and Littlefield. During the year I also completed nine articles on various subjects pertaining to historiography and cultural studies that are at various stages of publication. These articles have been solicited also for publication as a collection of my essays. Finally, I gave eight talks in the course of the year in Lund, Upsala, Vienna, Copenhagen(2), Leiden, Lyon and Minneapolis. I also participated in a Ph.D. dissertation defence in the Sinology Department of Leiden University.
