PICTURES OF THE HUMAN BODY IN THE EARLY MEDIEVAL LEGES BARBARORUM (CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ASPECTS)

During my stay at NIAS I realized three goals. I prepared an English article "Women and physical violence in leges barbarorum" for publication. I wrote two chapters of my book: Circumstances of committing crimes against the body; and Sexual crimes. I collected literature concerning the writing down of Germanic laws, legal culture in the early medieval West, the anthropology of law in the contemporary traditional societies, anthropology of the body, the body in medieval culture, concepts of sexual pollution and purity in traditional cultures, and violence in early medieval Western Europe. A significant number of different publications collected (about 80) will enable me to complete my dissertation "The picture of the human body in the early medieval Germanic laws (500 - 900)", which should meet the high standards required of contemporary humanities.
