ON THE CONSISTENCY AND RATIONALITY OF SOME CRISP CHOICE FUNCTIONS WHEN PREFERENCES ARE FUZZY

My research brought me new insights on the implementation of fuzzy preference modeling in Social Choice theory. More precisely:

  1. I established necessary and sufficient conditions under which fuzzy preferences generate rational choice by means of nine rules of choice introduced by Barrett, Pattanaik and Salles (1990). I characterized five of these nine rules and determined sufficient conditions on fuzzy preferences to generate consistent choice by means of those five rules.
  2. I determined an algebraic structure (prefilter, filter or ultrafilter) of the set of decisive coalitions of N (a given finite set N or a society) of voters of a fuzzy aggregation rule and I used the obtained mathematical structures to deduce fuzzy counterparts of the Gibbard Oligarchy Theorem and the Arrow Impossibility Theorem.

During my stay at NIAS, I learnt to cycle, I spent good times with NIAS Fellows, I attended to some scientific meetings and I obtained some new topics for my (Ph.D. thesis and Master Degree) students.
