Artist-in-residence Urok Shirhan will explore estrangement, identity, language and sound in a seminar on 11 May.

About the Seminar

In this seminar, Urok Shirhan presents the artistic research project Xenophones, and shares some of the first results of her fellowship at NIAS.

'Xenophones' – which could be translated as 'Strange Sounds' or the 'Sound of a Stranger' – is a project that comprises performative research into attributes of the voice and spoken language.

During the seminar Shirhan presents new work in progress, developed in collaboration with neuroscientist and current NIAS fellow Greg Siegle.

About NIAS Seminars

NIAS Seminars are aimed to stimulate scientific cross-pollination within the NIAS academic community, but seminars are open to others who are interested. Please  if you wish to attend.
