Co-sponsored Fellowship

Arnold Hoogerwerf Next Artist-in-Residence

6 July 2017

Media artist Arnold Hoogerwerf has been awarded the artist-in-residence fellowship 2017. Hoogerwerf will explore the topic of supernormal stimuli and the biological origins of creating and experiencing art.

Hoogerwerf's project is inspired by the work of Dutch ethologist Niko Tinbergen, who studied instinctual responses in animal behaviour. Hoogerwerf will look into the possible implications of Tinbergen's work for the production and consumption of art, aesthetics and art education.
